Just a day after Kandhamal BJD MP Pratyusha Rajeswari Singh was issued a notice on a quo warranto writ petition, the High Court on Thursday again issued another notice to her on an election petition filed by BJP leader and former MP Rudra Madhab Ray challenging her election.
Admitting the election petition, Justice Biswanath Rath asked Singh to file her response by January 15 next and posted the matter to be heard again on January 22, informed the petitioner’s counsel Gopal Agarwal. Ray, who had lost to Singh in the October 15 bypoll, has challenged the election of the BJD leader stating that she automatically disqualifies to be a member of Indian Parliament for she has not accepted the Indian citizenship yet.
