The Paradip Town Youth Congress protested the apathy of the Paradip Municipality and the Paradip Port for poor drinking water supply arrangements in various local slums.
The members alleged that the water supplied in tankers to the slums by the civic body is very poor and inadequate. Besides, there is no provision of supply of water through pipe lines to the slums. They charged that the municipality had spent lakhs of rupees in installing high max lights near Paradip sea beach. However, after the Kalinga Baliyatra festivities were over, the lights are not working with power connection cut off. The darkness has helped the criminals in the sea beach area, they said.
The activists led by president Manoj Kumar Behera, secretary Santosh Kumar Biswal, Saroj Kumar Parida, Deepak Kumar Behera and Bijay Kumar Sethi submitted a memorandum to the Executive Officer (EO) of Paradip Municipality and demanded early action to solve the problems.
