The Senior Citizens’ Forum, Chakeisihani and the VSS Nagar Unnayan Parishad have demanded that the proposed railway over-bridge at VSS Nagar Haat level-crossing be constructed in ‘Y’ shape that was approved in the year 2009.
Members of the two forums and VSS Nagar Durga Puja Committee, Sanischar Bazaar Committee and many other committees of the locality discussed the issue at a meeting held in the Manchanath High School premises recently.
The authorities have now changed the ‘Y’ shape of the proposed over-bridge to ‘l’ shape. If the over-bridge is constructed in ‘l’ shape, residents of around 10 villages coming from Chakeishiani side would have to go to the city by the side of Sainik School. Besides, residents of the VSS Nagar would face a lot of problem. Hence, the proposed over bridge should be constructed in ‘Y’ shape, they demanded.
They too decided to take to the streets if their demand is not met. The meeting presided over by president Krushna Chandra Sahoo concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Parishad general secretary Dillip Dashsharma.
