Students of the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) in collaboration with the Rotary Club held Street Store, a clothe distribution programme for the needy here on Sunday.
At the Street Store, cloths and other apparels collected from local citizens were donated to homeless and needy people. They were allowed to browse through the clothes and pick up anything they like.
Around 600 beneficiaries got their chosen clothes from the store at the XIMB. Preparations for the event had started a month ago. Pamphlets were distributed in several slums here in advance and announcements made on 92.7 big FM to spread the word. A 150- team from the Social Responsibility Cell of the XIMB collected cloths from students as well as locals. Different kinds of cloths were displayed at the stall. Additionally, an eco-friendly paper bag was given to the beneficiaries with each garment. All the hangers and the paper bags were designed and put together by the team.
