The Social Responsibility Cell (SRC) of the XIMB-XUB in association with the NTPC celebrated a cracker-free Diwali here on Sunday. They conveyed a message to care for the environment and touch the lives of the underprivileged section of the
society.
The SRC visited six NGOs in the city like the Ananda Bhawan Old-Age Home, the Drug Rehab Centre, the Asha Kiran (Jatni Centre), the Deaf and Mute School, the Sneh Foundation and the Asha Kiran.
The SRC members and volunteers distributed blankets at the Old-Age home and the Drug Rehab Centre.
Many fun games like musical chair, lemon race, rangoli, art competition, song and dance were also organised. Besides, books, crayons, sketch pens, chocolates, ice-cream and snack items were distributed.
Goodies were also distributed to the winners of these events.
The interaction of the SRC members with the elderly as well as small children gave them a sense of meaning and filled the members with joy as they realised that they were the reason for someone’s smile.
The SRC of the XIMB-XUB is committed to take up more such initiatives in future and have an even wider reach than it has today.
