IlluminatiX, the Media and PR Cell of XIMB on January 25 organised the second edition of TEDx XIMB in a spirit of TED’s Mission: “Ideas worth sharing”. TED conferences are primarily organised to help communities, organisations and individuals to spark conversations and connect through regional TED-like experiences. It aims at developing a consortium of high powered ideas across disciplines and technologies to inspire people to think and take actions, thus creating a better future.
The theme of the event this time was “Be Yourself, the World Will Adjust”.The event began with a talk by Inir Pinheiro, managing director of Grassroots. An alumnus of XIMB, he spoke about his personal experience as an entrepreneur and motivated the audience to dream the “impossible dream”. He drew an interesting analogy between a dream and an individual.
The next speaker was Michael Burns, an American by origin who has been residing in Mumbai for the last four years. He is the director and founder of Tall Tales, Mumbai’s premier live storytelling event series. He spoke about the importance of “conviction” in storytelling emphasising on qualities like passion, strength, determination and belief. The next speakers were Akshaya Rautray and Satabdi Mishra, cofounders of Walking Book Fairs and Odisha’s first bookstore-on-wheels.
