The Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) organised a leadership talk on “landscape of Medical Equipment Industry in India and Across the World” here on Thursday in which Becton Dickinson India MD Pawan Kumar Mocherla was the chief speaker.
Mocherla elucidated what exactly are medical devices and the value chain that medical devices hold in the healthcare industry and also illustrated the position of the healthcare industry both globally and in Indian context.
He said the unavailability of quality medical care, dynamic disease burden, and high catastrophic expenditures are some of the major roadblocks which have put India far behind countries like the United States and China in the healthcare industry.
Mocherla also elaborated the role of the private sector to uplift the healthcare scenario, along with the pertinent steps which should be taken by the government to address the rising issue of quality and affordable healthcare to the masses, which included the “Ayushman Bharat” scheme.
An interactive question and answer round was also held in which some brilliant questions were raised by the students.
