Monday, August 19, was celebrated as the World Humanitarian Day to pay tributes to the great people who have sacrificed their lives for the well-being of the others.
The SRC-Social Responsibility Cell of the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), in association with the Institute of Social Work & Research, organised an event to show their way of thanksgiving to the community. The programme started with the visit of a few children from a nearby school. There were laughing, talking and chatting merrily, but little after all came to know that God has not gifted them the power to see the light of the day; they are visually-impaired. They participated in reading, writing and quiz competitions and enjoyed them to their heart’s content. Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) Dean of Academics Biswa Swarup Mishra said managers not only need to be pragmatic but also to be compassionate.
The event was graced by Dean of Student Affairs and Dean of Administration Fr Augustine and other faculty members. Guest of honour Sanyas Kumar Behera of the Institute of Social Work and Research, also visually-challenged, delivered a motivating and passionate speech. The chief guest was RK Sharma, Assistant Director Vocational Rehabilitation Centre for Handicap, who wanted the future Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) managers “to try to include and recruit differently-abled persons on your team”.
