The State Government has asked the authorities of the Xavier University, Bhubaneswar to furnish the details about the progress of its proposed university. The Higher Education Department has asked the Xavier management to submit deadlines for completion of its phase-wise construction and starting of various academic courses.

The Xavier University Bill was passed in the State Assembly on April 5 this year with a direction by the Government to make it functional within two years. The Xavier authorities are yet to announce the names of the university’s chairman, vice-chancellor, deans and registrars.

The department has also sought to know if an administrative office of the university is functioning in Bhubaneswar, about development of infrastructure in the campus and about the process of the formation of the board of governors.

The proposed university is coming up on 35 acres of land at the Kurki industrial estate at Nijigarh village near Pipili.
