The Vigilance police on Tuesday caught Saumya Ranjan Dash, Assistant Section Officer (ASO), Establishment Section, office of the Engineer-in-Chief, Water Resources, Bhubaneswar, while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person.
Dash had demanded the bribe from the complainant for processing his house building loan file for sanction of loan.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out on the Government quarter of Dash at Unit-9 in Bhubaneswar and his parental house at Demala under the Aul police station in Kendrapada district.
Later, Dash was arrested and forwarded to court.
