The Krishi Vigyan Kendra-Khordha in collaboration with the Sambalit Farmer’s Producer Company, Balipatna, Khordha, celebrated the World Food Day with the theme “Leave no one behind” on Sunday. ICAR-CIFA Principal Scientist Dr HK Dey highlighted the food security, promotion of various agri-entrepreneurial activities for sustainable livelihood, schemes implemented for eradicating hunger and malnutrition.
Head, KVK-Khordha AK Dash focused on the application of modern technologies in agriculture to enhance production and productivity. Darbar Sahitya Sanshad, Khordha secretary Kedareswar Choudhuri enlightened the women participants on consumption of balanced diet for better health. Dr PR Sahoo, SMS (Fishery Science) emphasised on the importance of fish culture in diversifying the income source of the farmers/ farmwomen. Dr Harapriya Nayak, SMS (Home Science) highlighted the important contributions of women in post-harvest management, food processing and value addition of farm produce for ensuring food security and income generation.
Eight progressive farmers/ farmwomen from Khordha district were felicitated for their outstanding contributions in agriculture and allied sector.
