A three-day workshop on the Right to Information (RTI) Act would be held at the Rourkela Municipal College beginning from Thursday, said Odisha Soochana Adhikar Abhiyan, Rourkela chapter convenor Dr Gajendra Meher at a Press meet here on Monday.
Corruption has become an incurable disease, which can be curbed only by proper use of the RTI Act. After nine years its implementation, the Act is yet to be reached to the common people, Meher rued.
The workshop aims at educating people about the details of the RTI Act as many corrupt Government officials are working against the sanctity of the Act and taking advantage of the people unaware about the Act, added Meher. Abhiyan State convenor and noted RTI activist Pradeep Pradhan, senior journalist Rabj Das and former Judge of the Odisha High Court justice Choudhury Pratap Mishra will attend the event. Besides, around 250 block-level activists from the district will participate in the workshop.
