Workers' interests being dented in NJCS: AAP

Published on:

The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday said it would fight against the ‘corrupt’ practices being adopted by the National Joint Committee for Steels (NJCS) at the cost of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) workers’ interests.

Though the basic pay of workers and officers were fixed up in an equal proportion, separate guidelines on wage fixation implemented though NJCS has increased the gap.

While the wage for SAIl officers and NTPC workers fixed on the basis of Mohan Commission recommendation fetched them laksh of rupees as arrear since Jan 1, 1997, the NJCS leaders sidelined the report and signed a 10-year-wage with the RSP causing heavy financial loss to the workers.

Subsequently the Central Government recommended for wage fixation on the basis of Rao Commission report on January 1, 2007. A provision of 30 per cent MGB and 46 per cent fringe benefit for PRP were introduced.

This time also the NJCS leaders did not accept Rao Commission report and signed a five-year -wage agreement further loss to the workers.

The NJCS leaders have done a lot to give maximum benefit to the SAIl management at the cost of workers’ interest and the leaders were pleased otherwise by the management for signing this anti-worker pact alleged AAP.

Hence, the party has decided to fight against the corrupt practices of the NJCS leaders to protect the interest of the workers, AAP leaders said here.
