Protesting fraudulence by many outsourcing companies in the State, 483 contractual workers affected by such firms gheraoed the Naveen Niwas and staged a demonstration by beating utensils here on Wednesday.
The agitators, under the banner of the Kranti Odisha, demanded arrest of the proprietors of such firms and seize of their properties to refund the duped money to the affected workers. However, the Commissionerate Police intercepted the activists and arrested more than 200 workers at Sishu Bhawan Chhak here.
later, the police made a meeting between a four-member team from the agitators and the Secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The team submitted a memorandum addressing to the Chief Minister. Soon after, the police released the activists on personal bond.
