The Nikhil Odisha Bidyut Sramik Mahasangh on Tuesday demanded scrapping of the lincences of three power distributing companies (discoms), Southco, Nesco and Cesco, managed by the Reliance Infra in the State, citing that these companies have already lost Rs 1,556 crore in 2013-14 due to power theft.
Mahasangh president Akshay Kumar Tripathy in a Press release stated that these power distributing companies too did not discharge their duties in power restoration in the State following the cyclonic Phailin.
He also maintained that these distcoms have defaulted in payment of power purchase bills to the Gridco on some occasions. “Hence, we demand immediate scrapping of licences of the three dicoms,” said Tripathy.
