A contractual worker was electrocuted on Thursday while working on high tension electrical pole at Lingraj open cast project in the Talcher coalfields.
The deceased was identified as Bhuban Nayak (42), an electrician. He was injured fatally during the erection of cradle guard in high tension line feeder No. 4 of Lingaraj project.
The company has ordered a probe into the incident and assured all assistance and speedy compensation under law to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, an MCL release stated that all the efforts of local management went in vain to retrieve the body the victim from the electric pole due to continuous disturbance by people with vested interests, making demands beyond norms of compensation applicable under law. Raking up the issue on political lines, the vested interests forced snapping of electricity supply in the entire Talcher coalfields.
The MCL has appealed that the body of deceased electrician may be allowed to be retrieved and accorded due respect.
