The Odisha State Open University (OSOU) celebrated its first convocation here on the GM University premises where Odisha Skill Development Authority Chairman Subroto Bagchi joined as chief guest.
Bagchi in his convocation speech appealed the students to see dream first and work hard to materialize it in the later stage. “Write your dreams in a piece of paper. Work day in and day out to get it fulfilled and don’t leave your efforts till it is achieved. Finally, success will kiss your feet,” said Bagchi.
Bagchi also expressed his willingness to work jointly with the OSOU, thereby creating more skilled manpower for the State and the country. University Vice-Chancellor Srikant Mahapatra narrated the role played by the university in enabling the students to purse higher education who are not able to do it in regular colleges and universities due to many reasons including time constraints.
Since Chancellor Dr SC Jamir couldn’t attend the convocation, the chief guest gave away the gold medals to the toppers of different subjects. At the same time, he also gave certificates to 584 students in the subjects of Journalism and Mass Communication, Rural Development, Management, Entrepreneur Development, Cyber Security, Computer Applications, Accounting, Disaster Management, Hindi and Odia language courses.
