Won't accept ash from Renkoji Temple as Netaji's: Grandniece

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grandniece Jayanti Rakshit on Saturday said their family members don’t accept the ash, which is in Renkoji Temple in Japan and is being claimed to be of Netaji, as true. “Netaji never died in a plane crash in 1945 as is being claimed. We believe that Netaji died in early part of 1950. Hence, we don’t accept the ash, which is being claimed to be of Netaji, as true,” Rakshit told The Pioneer.

Rakshit, who is the granddaughter of Netaji’s elder brother Sarat Bose, recalling her childhood days said, “Though I had never seen Netaji, yet our family’s worries on his disappearance remains still afresh in me,” she said. She said their family members are trying all efforts to declassify the secret files related to Netaji.

“Around 78 secret files related to Netaji, including two with West Bengal Government, need to be declassified. My father Chandra Bose once had met Narendra Modi before the BJP formed Government at the Centre in 2014 and made this demand. We would keep up our efforts in this direction,’ she said. She said it is not understood how the Central Government believes that declassification of secret files would hamper India’s relationship with certain nations.

“When my granduncle disappeared in 1945, the World War II was on. The then USSR has disintegrated and the time has changed radically. Declassification of files will never impact India’s relationship with other countries,” Rakshit said.
