'Women's anger against State Govt evident'

BJP Mahila Morcha State president Pravati Parida on Monday claimed that large numbers of women expressed resentments against the Naveen Patnaik Government during the 11-day Mahila Suraksha Yatra concluded on Monday.

“The Mahila Surakha Yatra witnessed huge response from women who vented ire against the 18-year-old Naveen Patnaik Government for failing to protect them. We will expedite the campaign in coming days,” said Parida at a Press meet here.

She said women under 272 police stations have complained to the party leaders that police don’t receive FIRs from them at all. If a case filed by chance, police don’t take any action against culprits as ruling party leaders come to their rescue, she said.

“In many cases, culprits are moving fearlessly with support of ruling party leaders. So, free-moving offenders are also threatening victims’ family members not to take legal steps against them,” said Parida.

She alleged that the State police’s Pari Pain Kathatie campaign is only meant to protect the culprits.  She said the Governor, Union Home Minister and the President would be apprised about growing incidents of violence against women.

She said over 8,500 women activists crossed a total of 10,546 km and established direct contacts with more than 3.60 lakh women across the country during the 11 days.
