A 33-year-old man was tied to a tree and thrashed by a group of women at village Thanuala under Dharmasala block of Jajpur district on Sunday afternoon. His offence was that he allegedly assaulted his wife and daughter in an inebriated state.
“We tied Gadadhar Deuri to a tree as he beat his wife Kamala and daughter Banita on Saturday night in his house. On Sunday, Kamala informed about this for which the village women committee members dragged him from his house and tied him to a tree,” said Mandira Deuri, a village woman.
“Earlier, Gadadhar had also assaulted his wife many times and we had warned him against his behaviour. But he did not pay any heed to our pleas,” she said. Many villagers silently watched the women took on Gadadhar as the women threatened them and dared anyone to stop them.
