The Jeypore Mahila police organised an awareness drive to check violence against women and girls at Mahila Thana premises.
The campaign started by lighting of lamp by IPS probation officer Sagarika Nath, ASP Udhav Charan Nayak , Mahila thana IIC Priyus Chatray, Town police station Jeypore IIC Kailash Chandra Shethy, Sadar police station IIC Siba Prasad Sahu, SI Seemma Sangita lugun and social worker Sanjay Ku Jain.
There are a number of misconceptions surrounding violence against women, including how and why it occurs.
We need to address these misconceptions to be successful in our responses to violence against women and their children. Violence against women does not mean only physical violence.
It is much broader and includes sexual, emotional, psychological and financial abuse, said Nath.
Women and girls present on the occasion gave their opinions to make the drive successful.
A special jeep named Jagruti was flagged off by the guests which will be moving in and around the town for the safety and protection of girls.
