The newly-constituted women's grievance cell (WDC) of BBMK University has started an inquiry into allegations of harassment by the college principal leveled by a lady professor.
The university authorities reconstituted this cell recently while the issue was taken up by National Women's Commission (NWC) that had sent a reminder letter to superintendent of police Dhanbad and had directed to investigate the allegations and send a report to the commission.
The cell is being headed by Dr.Devjani Biswas, DSW of BBMKU. Out of the other four members one happens to be proctor of BBMKU, another principal of SSLNT women's college and two senior lady professors from university departments of different subjects. Reports suggest that the cell had summoned the concerned professor to put forward her grievances.
However, the university appears to be going soft on the college principal against whom the allegation of harassment has been levelled. As inquiry is on the alleged accused principal still holds the same position and university authorities didn't take any action against him in contravention to the inquiry procedures. While attempting to get views of some senior officers of university none were willing to speak on this issue.
