Irate members of an women Self-Help Group (SHG) on Monday raided a country liquor vend at Tantei village under the Soro police station in Baleswar district and ransacked it.
Sources said a woman of the village was brewing country liquor and selling it illegally. The locals, particularly the women folk had complained repeatedly to the concerned authorities but they turned a deaf ear to it.
The SHG members alleged that due to the liquor vend the law and order situation was deteriorating and the tipplers were frequently misbehaving with the women folk. However, the police rushed to the spot and pacified the crowd before the situation could deteriorate further.
