After languishing 15 days in jail, four women Gaon Sathi leaders were released from the Jharpada Special Jail here on Thursday morning.

The women had been arrested and sent to jail for attempting to immolate themselves in front of the Chief Minister’s residence Naveen Nivas while demanding job regularization and monthly incentives for the Gaon Sathis.

Members of the Gaon Sathi Sangha Milita Kriyanusthana State committee welcomed the four leaders. later, the committee members chalked out strategies to continue to fight for their demands.

They decided to move across the State to appraise social bodies, civil societies, media and the public about the ‘injustice’ meted out to them. They decided to stage a mass movement in March if their demands are not met by then.

“We have also decided to meet Governor SC Jamir and the National and State Human Rights Commissioners in January to discuss about our plights and demands. We will also submit a memorandum to the President,” said Sangha president laxmidhar Biswal.
