While Governments and media across the globe are creating awareness to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), it seems to have little effect on sections of people in Odisha.
Superstition reigned supreme as thousands of women thronged a Shani temple at Puruna Bazaar here on Saturday morning to offer prayers to the deity to keep them safe from the killer virus.
Reports said that women having a single child collected Rs 5 each from seven mothers having twin children and offered the money to the deity. The women made a beeline to the temple with the air reverberated with chants of hymn and ululation.
