A group of angry women, taking law onto them went on a rampage and demolished country-made liquor outlets in Kathajodi slums under the Markat Nagar police station here on Friday.
Disturbed over rampant trade in illicit liquor leading to indiscriminate violence, the women took the extreme step after their pleas before the local police went unheard.
“This is an outcome of police inaction”, said local Corporator Giribala Behera. She said even her pleas to the police to check the liquor trade in slums has yielded no result. Antisocial activities in the slums and nearby areas have increased manifold ever since makeshift outlets started vending country liquor here, she alleged.
