A team of Odisha Nari Suraksha Manch led by its president Sasmita Das on Tuesday met eight-month pregnant visually-impaired girl at the District Headquarters Hospital. The team demanded that police arrest the culprit soon and provide justice to the victim.Notably, the 25-year-old girl of Benipur village under the Kendrapada district’s Nikirai police station allegedly became pregnant after having physical relationship with one Kalia Mallick, a married person of Tigiria village under the Balichandrapur police limits.
After Kalia refused to marry, the girl told her parents about her pregnancy. The parents then lodged an FIR with the Nikiria police station against Kalia on Saturday.“We have registered a case but are yet to arrest Kalia as he has fled from his village,” informed Nikiria PS IIC Pradyumna Moharana.
