The BJP Mahila Morcha on Friday said women and girl children are unsafe in the State as everyday they are being made victims of rape, molestation and eve-teasing.
Addressing a Press meet here, BJP Mahila Morcha vice-president Pinky Pradhan questioned how a 65-year-old man raped a girl at Kabisuryanagar under the Hinjili police station, which is in the Chief Minister’s constituency. How the police was unable to know about the incident, she further asked.
Stating that the 5T has totally failed, Pradhan demanded police protection and compensation to the victim’s family. She also demanded formation of an SIT to probe the matter and arrest the ruling party leaders, who are allegedly backing the accused. Notably, a girl was raped at Kabisuryanagar in Ganjam district on November 16. However, due to unlawful societal pressure, the family had not come forward with a complaint.
