The dead body of a woman with multiple injuries on her face was recovered near a temple at Sector-6 in the city on Friday. The deceased was identified as Sujata Mohapatra, a life insurance agent and resident of Koel Nagar here.
Though the motive behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that she was bludgeoned to death with a stone by someone.
locals spotted the body at a bush in the morning and informed the police about it. later, the cops seized the body and sent it for post-mortem and started investigation.
A scooty, bearing registration number OD 14B 3762, was found parked near the crime scene. Some locals said on Thursday night the woman had asked them the way to the Tarini temple and in the morning they found her dead.
However, Rourkela ASP Debi Prasad Dash said, “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of murder. The circumstances under which she was murdered can only be known after investigation.”
