The police on Monday arrested a woman who posed herself as a staff nurse in the District Headquarters Hospital here and injected more than five patients in the medicine ward.
The staff nurse on duty Rajanai Sahu was suspended for her negligence.
The private security guard deployed in the hospital was removed and the administration served notice to the security agency in this connection.
Police said Lili Jal , a local resident, was arrested for illegally entering into the ward and administering saline and injections to the patients on Saturday mid-night. A mentally upset, Lili due to quarrel with his relatives came to hospital and committed the crime. An investigation was under progress.
As per the report, about 1 am on Saturday night Lili entered into the room number 91 of the medicine ward with nursing uniform and pink coloured jacket with injections and saline bottles. In absence of staff nurse and other hospital staff, she started injecting one after another patient by directing the attendants to leave the room.
However, when a patient suspected on her activities, he shouted. The duty nurse and other staff rushed to the spot.
Lili had quarreled with the staff members and later fled. Fortunately, no patient complained of any illness due to the injection as she injected the prescribed medicine. It was suspected that the woman was medically a trained person.
CDMO Dr KK Gupta lodged an FIR with the Town police in connection with the incident and formed a committee to investigate the matter with the help of CCTV.
It may be reminded that on March 24, 2017, a woman with covered face entered into the hospital during mid-night and took away a new born baby. Police have failed to trace the baby till now. In another incident a security guard on duty molested a 4- year- old child inside the hospital who came to hospital with her ailing mother for treatment. Such incidents have created a big question mark on the security of the hospital.
