A woman inmate of Sarathi ashram who had registered a complaint with the Crime Branch on Friday against Sarathi Baba, came to the District Court here on Saturday to record her statement before the Magistrate. She was accompanied by her mother and a lady officer of the Crime Branch.
Notably, the Crime Branch on Friday registered a case against Sarathi on the compliant of the victim girl that the Baba had tried to outrage the victim’s modesty during her stay at the Barimul ashram years back.
The Crime Branch Investigating Officer on Saturday prayed before the SDJM Court of Kendrapada to record the statement of the woman victim as she is a native of the Kendrapada district headquarters town.
As a result, the court allowed the girl to record her statement before JMFC Sila Priyadarshini Panda after registering a GR case in the court.
Meanwhile, one Mamata Samantaray, chairperson, Odisha Progressive Women’s Forum, on Saturday registered a case before the SDJM against former SP of Kendrapada Satish Kumar Gajbhiye, the IIC of Kendrapara Sadar police station and a woman SI for police excess and torture meted out to her after confining her in a room on August 6.
Samantaray alleged that while she was staging a peaceful agitation in front of the Sarathi Ashram Road, she was picked up by the police and treated inhumanly by assaulting her the whole night.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch continued interrogation of Sarathi’s adopted son Satyam for the second consecutive day on Saturday. The probe agency also interrogated about the transactions of Sarathi Productions to a cine producer. The Sarathi Productions had invested money for Odia movie ‘Bachelor’.
Besides, the Crime Branch also interrogated Manjulata Swain, the person who had lodged an FIR at the Mangalabag police station on behalf of the medico who had accompanied Srimad Sarathi to Hyderabad. The woman had then impersonated as a CBI sleuth.
