A woman, claiming to be wife of Talcher BJD MlA Braja Kishore Pradhan, tried to commit suicide in front of the State Assembly on Friday demanding justice.
Sources said the woman consumed phenyl. She was later rushed to the Capital Hospital by police. later, her condition was stated to be stable.
Speaking to reporters, she said, “I went to the Naveen Niwas, but neither the DCP nor the Mahila police took any action on my complaint. Suicide was the last resort for me as the Chief Minister turned a blind eye to the conduct of his MlA. I challenge the MlA to file a defamation suit against me and face me in court.”
The woman had earlier tried to end her life before the Chief Minister’s residence. The woman for a long time has been claiming to be wife of Pradhan.
Earlier in February, she had also lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station here alleging that the MlA is refusing to give her the social status as wife even after she married him at a temple on April 5, 2015 as per traditional rituals. She had also created a ruckus before Pradhan’s official residence at MlA Colony here and also before his residence in Talcher.
