Woman thrashes hubby with chappal

It was as if the popular short play of Fakir Mohan’s “Patent Medicine” was enacted in a Sambalpur street. Chapal was used in place of a broom.

A girl of Hirakud, Prachipadma Panda, married one Akshay Sutar in the year 2006. Akshay is a Lecturer in Political Science in the Hirakud College. But Prachipadma alleged that her husband has got illicit relationship with other women, including his own sister-in-law (Bhauja).

Her husband also remained absent from her for months together with mobile phone switched off, she alleged. However, on Friday knowing from reliable sources that Akshay came to the office of the Collector of Sambalpur, Prachipadma came there and thereafter began the high drama. Not only did she want to know the reason behind keeping the mobile switched off and remaining absent from her for months together, she also started attacking her husband with her chappal and slang language that hundreds of people witnessed as silent observers.

The husband was also reactive, but not that much aggressive like his wife. He was heard saying that Prachipadma married her forcefully although he married earlier.

At the same time, she has affairs with a non-Odia youth of the town and he caught them many a time red handed in compromising condition. “Although I told both of them not to do such unfair things, they hardly obeyed me,” Akshay said to the public there.

However, police rushed in and brought both of them to the local town police station. It is learnt that both have lodged a number of FIRs against each other.
