Mystery shrouded the death of a woman software engineer, whose body was found hanging in an apartment at Shailashree Vihar here on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Sweta Utkal Kumari.
It is suspected that Sweta, who is a native of Bhadrak and was working in a reputed IT company in the capital city, committed suicide.
As per initial reports, Sweta died by suicide on Friday night. The matter came to light after the family members could not contact her over mobile phone.
Finding no other alternative, the family members contacted the Chandrasekharpur police. Later, a police team found Sweta’s body hanging in her apartment room, which was locked. The cops gained entry after breaking the door.
Police have recovered a diary from Sweta’s room and also seized her mobile phone. The body was later handed over to the family after postmortem.
The deceased’s family has demanded an appropriate investigation in this regard. Though the exact reason behind Sweta taking the extreme step is not yet known, further investigation is underway in connection with the incident.
