A woman teacher of the Panchupalli Somnath High School at Balugaon in Khordha district on Tuesday allegedly attempted suicide by consuming mosquito repellent liquid after she failed to avail casual leave (CL).
According to sources, English teacher Santoshi Behera took the extreme step after being allegedly tortured by the Headmaster of the school. As the headmaster did not allow her to take casual leave, Santoshi decided to end her life.
After she consumed the liquid, she lost consciousness. She was rushed to Balugaon hospital by fellow teachers and again she was shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar after her condition deteriorated.
However, police and the English teacher’s family members were found unavailable for comments in this regard.
