In a shameful incident, a woman was stripped by two unidentified youths on the road in broad daylight at Hirakhud in Sambalpur district on Friday for not withdrawing a rape case.
The incident was reported from the Hirakud Old Market area at around 4.00 pm when the woman was going alone to bring her daughter from school. Reports said the two youths chased her and pulled her saree. When she protested, they attacked her with a sharp weapon.
However, nobody came to her rescue. She was abused and threatened by the youths for not withdrawing the rape case of her daughter. Desperate, the injured woman entered into a resident’s house in half-naked condition seeking help.
later, the woman along with her family lodged a written complaint with the Hirakud police against the youths. A case has been registered following the complaint. The matter is being investigated, said Hirakud police station IIC Tofan Bag.
