A married woman along with her 14 –year-old daughter on Saturday staged a dharna at the house of her bigamist husband demanding compensation.
According to police sources, Sabita Behera, daughter of Ratnakar Behera of Teragaon village, had married Rashmi Ranjan Behera, son of Khatu Charan Behera of Manakarpur village 15 years ago. later, she gave birth to a girl child.
The in-laws and her husband used to torture her both mentally and physically at regular intervals. Even Sabita’s in-laws had made an attempt to kill her.
Meanwhile, Sabita came to know that her husband had married another lady slyly. Soon, she and her daughter, Nandini came to Rashmi’s house on Saturday. She later unlocked the rooms and sat on a dharana forcing her husband to pay her suitable compensation.
Kendrapara Town Police Station IIC Pramod Kumar lenka rushed to the spot and managed to convince her to withdraw her dharana by unlocking the doors. But she demanded maintenance from Rashmi for her survival. Sabita also filed a case at a local court and the matter is sub-judice.
