A woman employee of the Balangir district Civil Supplies Office on Saturday levelled allegations of sexual harassment to her by the Civil Supply Officer (CSO).
According to the complainant, when she joined, CSO Mir Raja Ali demanded Rs 30 lakh from her. When she expressed her incapability to pay the bribe, he reduced the amount to Rs 10 lakh.
As she still refused to oblige, Ali started harassing her both mentally and physically. He even made her work for long hours at night. Besides, he used to call her to his chamber when he was alone, she alleged.
She also alleged that the CSO used to make fun of her as she was unmarried. She claimed that she has proof of allegations and that investigations would reveal the truth
Meanwhile, taking the allegations seriously, Balangir Collector Chanchal Rana has initiated an inquiry into the matter.
However, Ali has refuted the allegations and said he has never called the concerned employee to his chamber since she joined office
She is a senior employee, but her performance is not up to mark. When he told her this in front of other employees, she has levelled false allegations, he said.
