A middle-aged woman and her two sons sustained injuries following an agent of a chit fund company with the help of his brother allegedly attacked them as the former demanded return of their deposited money.
The incident occurred on Monday at Khairabad village under Kendrapara Sadar police station.
According to police sources, Charulata Sahu of Garapur village had deposited Rs 5,000 in the Golden land chit fund firm in Kendrapada more than a decade back through agent Ullas Kumar Nayak.
But seven years back, the chit fund firm closed its office and a worried Sahu several times demanded her money back from agent Nayak. On Monday night, however, Sahu and her two sons entered into a brawl with Nayak over return of the money. Irked over this, Nayak and his brother assaulted the trio with iron rod. Nayak also was injured as he got blows from the mother and sons.
The three injured were admitted at the District Headquarters Hospital. Sahu lodged an FIR at the Kendrapara Sadar police station in this regard. The police after registering a case have started an investigation.
