A woman and her two-year-old son were killed in a car accident near Atharaphutia under the Thakurgarh police limits in Angul district on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Manorama Biswal (28) and her son Ayush, residents of Tabeda village in the district.
Manorama’s husband Dhiren Biswal (42) sustained critical injuries in the mishap and was hospitalised.
According to reports, the car by which the trio was travelling lost balance and fell into a roadside gorge killing the mother-son duo on the spot.
locals staged a road blockade at Atharaphutia demanding compensation for the victim family.
