In a shocking incident, a 31-year-old married woman was burnt alive by her husband and in-laws due to a domestic dispute here.
At around 11 am on Thursday, the dispute broke out between Ankita Yadav and her husband Harish Jaiswal after which Jaiswal along with his father and mother poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.
When Ankita started loudly screaming for help in a burning state, some neighbours rushed into the house and rescued her. Ankita was immediately admitted to the Jharsuguda Headquarters Hospital. Doctors said that 41 per cent of her body has suffered severe burns.
Ankita said that three years back, she gave birth to a son who was handed over by her husband to one of their relatives without Ankita's consent. Since then whenever she expressed the desire to see her child, it was met with mental and physical abuse by Jaiswal and his parents.
When contacted, Jharsuguda PS IIC KS Naik informed that Ankita's husband has been taken into custody for interrogation. The Town police have registered a case.
