Ahalya Parida (70), wife of Gurucharan Parida of Chatara village under Tantiapala Marine police limits, was rescued from a crocodile’s jaws on Sunday evening.
She was cleaning herself in the Govari river when a crocodile pounced on her and dragger her inside. But the victim showed her presence of mind and fought courageously with the reptile to get herself released. Finding her wrestling with the crocodile and shouting for help, some women nearby rushed to rescue her and pulled her out from jaws of the reptile. However, Ahalya sustained major injuries on her legs and was rushed to a Bhubaneswar-based private hospital for treatment.
