In a shocking incident, a woman of Jaleswar has accused
a sorcerer of raping her for more than two and a half months in the name
of driving away evil spirits.
The victim is married for four years and has a son of about two and a
half years old out of her wedlock. As per her complaints, the mother-in-
law of the victim had taken her to the sorcerer to resolve marital
discord which had developed between her and her husband.
In the name of performing certain rituals, the accused sorcerer sexually
assaulted her for about eight days confining her to an abandoned house.
Incidentally, the sorcerer had left his mobile phone in the room where
she was lodged in a house in Moroda area of Mayurbhanj.
She called her parents from that phone in the absence of the accused and
narrated her ordeals which were meted out by the accused in the name of
treatment.
The father of the victim had lodged a missing complaint with police.
However, on information, the Moroda police rescued the victim from the
room.
The victim while lodged an FIR at Jaleswar Police Station, the accused
sorcerer absconded. Police said that as per the FIR lodged by the victim,
a case has been registered and an investigation was under progress.
The parents of the victim demanded the arrest of the husband, in –laws
and the sorcerer in this connection.
