Woman Maoist surrenders in K'put

Maoist Chitren Pangi (18) of Malkangiri surrendered before the police in Koraput district on Monday, four months after she joined the rebels.

Being fed up with anti-people attitude of the outlawed CPI (M), she left the party, police sources said, adding that she was also disgusted with unfair treatment towards Odia cadres in comparison to Telugu and Chhatisgarhi cadres.

She had joined the CPI (M) in May, 2017 and was operating in Chitrakonda and Machkund area. She was an active member of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee group and also trained as a team doctor.

“As per her preference, she wants to complete her education after surrendering and the local administration will provide assistance in this regard,” said Koraput SP Kanwar Vishal Singh.
