A woman was arrested and forwarded to court by the Sadar police on Friday for assaulting her mother-in-law in Kendrapada district.
The accused was identified as Pramila Mallick (35).
Pramila was accused of assaulting her mother-in-law Malati Mallick (60) following an altercation over some matter. It was alleged that Pramila had in the past assaulted the older woman a number of times over a property dispute. Though her mother-in-law approached police, the matter had been resolved with the intervention of locals.
But when Pramila again thrashed Malati, the latter lodged an FIR, following which police arrested her and produced her in court. As her bail plea was rejected, she was sent to judicial custody, said Sadar police station IIC Pramod Kumar Mallick.
