A woman was killed and her husband and four-year-old son were injured after the bike they were on board was hit by a tipper on NH-26 near Umeri village in Jeypore Sadar Police limits on Saturday.
The injured persons were identified as Dhabeleswar Sahu of Doraguda village under Borigumma Police limits, and son Ashutosh while the deceased was identified as Chandini. locals shifted them to the Jeypore sub-divisional hospital.
later, Dhabaleswar and his wife were referred to the Koraput district headquarters hospital after their condition deteriorated. Chandini later succumbed to her injuries. Tipper driver Dinu Harijan was also injured after he was beaten up by an angry mob. He was also admitted to the sub-divisional hospital here. Police, meanwhile, have seized both the vehicles and started a probe.
