Even as 36 hours have elapsed after the murder of an Anganwadi worker in Kurujanga gram panchayat under the Mahanga police station, the police are yet to arrest the accused though he was identified.
“The accused have been identified and search operations are on to nab him,” said Mahanga police station IIC Debadutta Baral.
According to the police, Chittaranjan Ghadai of Sabalkana village strangulated Sasmita Baral to death at the Anganwadi Centre after the centre closed at 10 am on Tuesday.
“The duo had some relationship. Though Chittaranjan was a married person, his wife was not staying with him due to some reason. So, he developed a relationship with Sasmita and often came to meet her at the Anganwadi Centre,” said one of Sasmita’s relatives.
