A woman was allegedly killed by her in-laws and her body was burnt by them in the Daruthenga area under the Chandaka police station on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Rubi Parida (20), who had married Deepak Bhoi (21) nine months ago after having a relationship with him.
She was allegedly strangled to death by her husband and in-laws. Later, they took the body to a nearby cremation ground and set it on fire. On getting information, the Chandaka police reached the spot, recovered the charred body and started investigation by registering a case. But the motive behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
Rubi’s husband, her mother-in-law and sister-in-law are being interrogated by cops. But her father-in-law is still at large.
