A tribal woman undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here killed herself by jumping from the third floor of the Medicine Ward of the building early on Saturday morning.
Sources said 28-year-old Rajani Melaka, a resident of Tumbiguda village near Rayagada town, jumped from a washroom located on the third floor of the DHH at around 4 am.
While the reason of the suicide was yet to be ascertained, police started an investigation into the incident with the help of a forensic team.
ADMO Baradakanta Mishra said prima facie, it seemed like a suicide case as the deceased, who had been admitted to the hospital on July 7 after complaining of fever, locked the bathroom door from inside and jumped by breaking the window glass. "Everything will be clear after the police investigation," he said.
