Rajnagar police produced Basanti Jena before the JMFC Court of Rajnagar over kidnapping of a girl. She faced the charge of luring the girl on the pretext of arranging a job and suitable marriage.
The court rejected her bail plea and she was remanded to jail custody, stated Rajnagar police station IIC Sitakantha Kanungo.
According to police sources, Jena, a resident of Rajendranarayanpur village under Rajnagar police station, on June 10 last, kidnapped 19-year- old Pravati Das, daughter of Satya Ranjan Das of Paramanandapur village under Rajnagar police station by making her tall promises.
Girl’s uncle Prabhanjan Das lodged an FIR at Rajnagar police station on June 12 against Jena. Acting on the FIR, police registered a case. later, police managed to rescue the girl with the help of Nagpur Railway Police and also arrested the women.
